The Difference Between "Limited" And "Unlimited Contract" In The UAE Law.

Disclamer: Please be advised that the article below is based on my experience and may vary depending on the situation. It is always best to contact your HR Department, Ministry of Labour (MOL), or Freezone Authorities depending on your employment status. The information below is an account of a person's experience in the company she is working for. This ONLY serves as a GUIDE for awareness and not to be used as a reference in legal cases.

I’ve been pretty much burnt out at work lately. I got up early, went home late, skipped lunch, it was really incredibly BUSY and the worst thing is that you've got to have to deal with difficult people every single day. Sometimes, I just felt like I'm gonna quit too soon. I don't get any excitement feeling to come to work anymore these days and feeling lame to do the same routine. On top of that, I don't have time to visit my little corner in the web and writes a blog. I've actually love the nature of my job but lately the workload is overflowing. Seriously, I don't do magic, I'm not even a superwoman. Trust me working abroad was never been easy. And just because I play a big responsibility in the family who needs me back home, I was really tempted to look for something else probably better opportunity and this was the time I found out that I can get an automatic ban if I decided to leave the company before my contract ends.

So what is the difference between Limited and Unlimited Contract in the UAE Law?

LIMITED CONTRACT:

  • You are tied to the company for 2 years. If you resign before the contract expires, you will have an AUTOMATIC labor ban by UAE for 6 months.
  • Also, your employer can ban you up to 6 months.
  • You cannot transfer to other companies within your contract.

So basically, you are stuck to your employer. The only option for you to get out (if you want to resign) is to find a job within FREEZONE Company or work in a GOVERNMENT-owned Sector as these are exempted from any UAE Law Ban.

UNLIMITED CONTRACT:

  • You are tied to the company for 2 years. If you resign you will have an AUTOMATIC labor ban by UAE for 6 months.
  • Also, your employer can ban you up to 6 months.
  • You can transfer to any other companies SO LONG AS your salary is at least 5000 Dirhams (if you’re a High School Diploma holder), but if you’re holding a “Bachelor’s Degree Diploma” you have to get a salary at least 12000 Dirhams. (I know it’s a bit agonising). This means that you can transfer if there is a better offer/opportunity elsewhere. And you can still go to a FREEZONE Company or work in a GOVERNMENT-owned Business. The difference between the two is not that much.

So the only option for me (in case I switch job) and in order to lift my ban is to search for a FREEZONE Companies or Government-owned. Or any company will do so long as the salary package is at least (12000 Dirhams) bracket since I'm a Degree holder. But I don't wanna rush things and will not take a risk! I am still thankful that I got a decent job as I can read other people's blog and to some who has difficulty in getting a job in the UAE.

Meanwhile, I just gotta need to learn to have longer patience and a matter of perseverance as what every Filipino's tells me when I share my story. Include it with “Be thankful and be kind always".

One Sunny Afternoon At The Creek Park

I’ve been incredibly busy each day, I feel like I get to work, and the next thing I know, it is time to get home and go to bed and the next morning you have to get up for work again, it’s a never-ending cycle. But lately, days feel like a blur. I haven't even had time to put up any blog entries anymore. It has been a few weeks since the last one. It feels like it has been a very long time since the last time I wrote. I missed blogging!

Welcome 2015!!!
I haven’t got much story to tell yet but last weekend we had a small picnic party at the park. The weather is simply awesome and the best place to enjoy the cool spell is the enormous park in the UAE, The Dubai Creek Park. One such day when the weather was just perfect, a special moment and a whole fleet of beautiful white seagulls made it all more memorable. It was a beautiful sight to watch these white winged creatures fly with the wind and then dip down gracefully to pick up the morsels from the blue waters.

Cutting through the heart of Dubai, the seawater Dubai Creek winds its way from the trading port on the Gulf to the Ras al Khor bird sanctuary on the desert edge of Dubai. Old-fashioned boats called dhows criss-cross the water from Bur Dubai on the left bank to Deira. Catch a water taxi dhow, called an Abra, to get from A to B, or sign up for a romantic sunset Dhow Cruise traveling further upstream. A cruise reveals the glittering high-rise buildings lining the Creek, passing under several bridges to reach the Creek side gardens. Or take a stroll along the paved promenade lining the Creek on the side of the waterway. An ordinary day with an awesome and relaxing scenery made my weekend even more special and complete.

So I guess I just need to sit-back and relax,
Enjoy the rest of the weekend folks.

The Floating Restaurant: Dhow Cruise

It’s a lovely evening to go out on a romantic date, and being in Dubai, it has to be somewhere that’s either the biggest in the world or the tallest.

So off we drove to Dubai Creek located in Deira close to my place, which I have never really visited. Of course you know how it is: “Oh, it’s just around the corner; we can visit anytime.” So together with my new friend in town, we went to this man-made wharf in the Persian Gulf Shoreline. It takes 10 to 15 minutes to reach there from home. The regular rate for a 1-hour dhow tour is 150 dirhams and is open until 10pm. Unfortunately we arrived a little late so we haven't able to experience the dhow tour with a traditional buffet as they say.

While walking along the shore and enjoying the awesome sights in the middle of the night, we saw this one old isolated boat with a signage “for rent” - we just felt lucky. Well, we still managed to experience the sailing trip and the ultimate ride of the famous Dhow Cruise in UAE.

While everyone are in their deep-sleep,
we're enjoying the rest of dhow cruise under the stars,
 such a sweet escaped,
and let's forget about the real world!

Iceland Water Park in RAK rocks!

Have you ever been to one of the coolest place in the United Arab Emirates? By the word “cool”, I mean an unlimited access to all the rides, as well as the use of rubber rings and life jackets and fun-filled day at one of the best water park in the Middle East. If not, then hop in for a ride now. Whenever a holiday trek comes on your mind, you don’t only search for your own intriguing package but one those points towards providing excitement.

This weekend I finally visited what is probably the adventurous place in the emirate of RAK (Ras Al Khaimah) "The Iceland Water Park". It’s a 1-hour drive from our place and they usually opens at 10am. So together with my sis, we set off early for our drive to reach there at 10 and start the fun of what we expect to be an amazingly thrilling day.

Iceland Water Park is inspired by the phenomenon of global warming and themed to be the new homeland for the penguins along the coastal waters of the Arabian Sea. Name any position of the playful penguins and they recreated it there – on top of chalet, sliding on melted ice, dancing in groups, the details are quiet awesome.

Btw, we bought our tickets online.
There are tons of deals and offers available on the web so it is more convenient for you and not to complain about the long queue you might get there which is time consuming.

See? Penguins are everywhere!

This is one of my favorite spot as you can see at the background they have this huge cool place called "Dancing in the rain" where you can take a long shower with matching loud music in it, seems like you're inside a Bar with no alcohol but a massive shower room instead.

This huge facility is all about rides and fun so its no surprise at all that they can cater to more than a thousand guests on weekends and holidays.

TOP VIEW!
The Hurricane Ride!
It's crazy cause I rode it thrice. :D

And lets not forget the top high thrill rides. For adult thrill seekers this is the place to go. I've actually rode every slides available here even the 3-thousand feet slides. I was ultimately challenged to try their highest slide called “Mt. Attack” and I screamed to death, seriously it's really one hell of a ride.  lol, This Mt. Attack ride gave me a heart attack. I think I just died for 3 seconds after sliding. Haha

For a die-hard football fan, they also have full sized football field inside the water park area.

It was a great experience overall.
Take your worries off your forehead.
Experience rides and thrill-filled adventures to indulge in, swimming,
slides and much more in Iceland at RAK City.
